Located on the 31st floor with an amazing night view.
Food is French/Italian with an Asian twist. Ordered scallop carpaccio (average), smoked steak tartare (a bit sweet), grilled lamb chops (pre-cut into dice but still juicy), and beef wellington (exceptional!). For dessert we ordered toffee pudding but it’s apparently microwaved before served - some parts were soft while some were weirdly hard.
The place has been quite empty compared to the other restaurants on the same street. Only 4 tables for the whole night. Guess it’s due to its less easy-to-access location and the higher price range.
Points to note:
- The venue is popular among wedding parties or private dinner so do remember to make a reservation to confirm it is open on the day you wish to visit.
Honestly speaking foods were quite average. Thankfully I did manage my expectation beforehand. Came here for the view but turned out there are better options nearby also.. good things are 1. It’s easily to secure a seat. 2. There’s a rooftop bar upstairs so you could grab a drink and enjoy the breeze there
Wonderful experience at Alto.
Went for a birthday celebration and could not have made a better choice. Delicious food, atmosphere and lovely view over the city. Service was great and attentive and chef Gareth made it even more special by coming over to the table and double check that all is good. Really happy and will be back soon. Thank you chef and team 👌
Beef wellington is impressive and huge. Crust is crispy while the filet cooked just right. Other side dishes tasted great as well. The quality of bread basket and oyster can be better though.
For a brunch set that over $500, I would expect coffee / tea would included to make the meal more satisfying.
The view from the restaurant is great as well.
We were at the roof top bar. It is an OK place. Just another roof top bar. The drinks are OK, the view of the city light is OK, the food is OK, the service is better than OK. I am sorry, it is just another roof top bar. Nothing exciting or special.
Booked our Anniversary dinner here. Was pleasantly surprised by the Tasting Menu (HKD688) or what we also call as Degustacion.
Bisque was flavorful without tasting just salty or fishy. Salad was ok. Scallop Carpacio had the right amount of tang. Beef Wellington with Mashed Potato bed was huge for a tasting set. Raspberry Sorbet cleansed the palate and was followed by Chocolate Cremeux with Coconut Sorbet. So, worth it.
View was of course fantastic. Service attentive but not obtrusive.
Our date night was perfect but was a bit spoiled by the super noisy corporate dinner guests.
We don't take Amex. Apart from that (incorrect) statement, everything was hunky-dory. The meat was very tasty, the sides excellent and the mocktails also. The view, of course, is a big seller. Staff is friendly and polite. Prices are okay (for Hong Kong). I just wish the waiting staff knew that they actually do take Amex....
Semi lunch buffet is good value. Spread is adequate. Mains is Optional instead of mandatory. Steak is prepared well. Try to book early to get window seat to have a view of the harbor.
